Nathan looked down at his hands as he ran his thumb over the skin of his palm. He couldn’t remember what his own skin felt like but her’s… he’d spent many days and nights dreaming of the soft gentle touch of her hand in his.

“Doctor, when you showed up, you weren’t surprised when we told you about the Troubles.”
“Of course not. I’ve met them before.”
“Have you met Audrey before?”
“Yes and no. We have different faces now.”
“Do you-Do you know why I can feel her? I know I’m troubled. But… is she?”

He heard the Doctor sigh and pause a moment before answering.

“She’s not from around here.”
“Haven?”
“Earth.”

Nathan looked up in surprise. The normally smiling face of the bow-tied man was now somber and serious. It made Nathan uncomfortable. The Doctor didn’t seem the type that should ever have a frown grace his features, yet Nathan felt as if it had been a far too common occurrence in the odd man’s past.

Trying to lighten the sudden tension that had crept into the space between them Nathan offered up a smirk and a chuckle.
